Food hall to open in Liverpool's Metquarter, creating 132 jobs
A new food hall is to open in Liverpool's Metquarter shopping centres this spring, creating 132 jobs.
The General Post Office (GPO) will be operated by Milestone Group, which runs the Cutlery Works food hall in Sheffield.
It is set to feature seven traders, with confirmed operators including Bullion Craft Bean Café, Restaurant Konjo, Jail Bird Nashville Fried Chicken, Patty B's Burgers, Thai 25, Dirty Herb Vegan Chicken and Bubble Tea. Independent brands are invited to pitch for the final two spaces.
Matt Bigland, founder and director at the Milestone Group, said: "We are constantly on the lookout for the next food stars. We help form impressive brands while supporting them in our food hall. If you think your brand is a good fit for GPO or have talent for the next big hit, let us know! We want to work with you."
GPO's name is a nod to the building's former use as Liverpool's head Post Office.
The Metquarter opened in 2006 but has struggled to fill all its retail outlets in recent years. Last year music, media and performing arts college LMA repurposed part of the centre as a teaching campus for over 500 students.
Alex Hyams, asset manager for Metquarter's owner Queensbury Group, said: "GPO will be the largest food hall in the city centre and adds to the dynamic blend of uses which make up our unique offering at Metquarter."
