KFC and Deliveroo end delivery partnership

Fried chicken chain KFC and delivery giant Deliveroo have ended their partnership after failing to agree on commission rates.

Customers will no longer be able to order KFC's chicken on Deliveroo from today (26 October).

It is understood the fast food chain has split from the delivery giant after turning down an offer from the platform.

A Deliveroo spokesperson said: "Deliveroo's focus is providing great value on our platform and partnering with restaurants and grocers who share the same outlook.

"We were pleased to be able to offer KFC the opportunity to bring down commission rates by improving their service for our shared consumers. We regret that KFC has refused to agree to these terms at this time."

KFC said it was focusing on its own platform, KFC Delivery, as well as its partnerships with rival delivery aggregators Just Eat and Uber Eats.

"We continuously review our portfolio of delivery options to ensure we're providing the right offer across all the right channels for our fans," KFC said in a statement.

"[KFC] wants to thank Deliveroo's riders for their hard work in helping to deliver its finger lickin' fried chicken to fans across the country."

Deliveroo said "thousands of incredible chicken restaurants" were still available to across its platform.

The move comes amid a greater focus on grocery partnerships at Deliveroo, which has expanded its Hop delivery sites across London this year in partnership with Morrisons and Waitrose.

An in-app feature allowing customers to top up their restaurant takeaway orders with grocery items launched in August.

Deliveroo, which floated on the London Stock Exchange two years ago, said order numbers had risen 3% on the previous year during its third quarter.
