Kensington DoubleTree by Hilton to relaunch as Curio

A multimillion-pound refurbishment and restoration of the property's 1870s architecture will see the former DoubleTree by Hilton London - Kensington renamed 100 Queen's Gate Hotel London, Curio Collection by Hilton.

Launched in 2014, the Curio Collection by Hilton is a soft brand featuring "upper upscale hotels with character" and is one of Hilton's 15 brands. The brand first launched in the UK with the rebrand of the Trafalgar St James London last year.

Hilton's second Curio in the UK, the Lincoln Plaza London, is due to open in January, and the group also signed a franchise agreement with the Gantry Group to open the London Gantry in Stratford under its Curio Collection in 2020.

As part of the relaunch, the hotel will have two restaurants - a brasserie offering French fusion cuisine, and Botanica, an atrium offering afternoon tea, cocktails and private dining. An additional 25 guest rooms will also be added as part of improvements, taking the hotel's room count to 228.

Aly Kassam, chief executive of Crimson Hotels, which owns the property, said: "This is a unique opportunity to renovate and rebrand the hotel in keeping with its legacy as a Victorian period mansion."
