Hyatt Regency hotel to open in London's Blackfriars

A 204-bedroom Hyatt Regency hotel is to open in London's Blackfriars in July 2022.

A Hyatt affiliate has entered into a management agreement with Blackfriars Hotels Limited to oversee the Hyatt Regency London Blackfriars, formerly the Crowne Plaza London the City.

The property, which is a Grade II listed building, is undergoing a major refurbishment to install an all-day New York-style bistro, speciality Chinese restaurant, cocktail bar, large outdoor space, meeting spaces and a fitness centre.

Felicity Black Roberts, vice president of development of Europe at Hyatt, said the plans demonstrate the group's "confidence in London's position as an attractive destination for both business and leisure travellers".

Blackfriars Hotels Limited said it was attracted to the "legacy, premium quality, and reputation" of the Hyatt Regency brand described the hotel as a "landmark".

Hyatt Regency London Blackfriars will be the 13th Hyatt-affiliated hotel in the UK and the ninth in London, joining properties including Great Scotland Yard Hotel and Andaz London Liverpool Street.

Other UK properties in the pipeline include the Hyatt Regency London Stratford and Hyatt House London Stratford hotels.
