New owner sought for Hipping Hall hotel and restaurant

A new owner is being sought for the Hipping Hall restaurant with rooms in Kirkby Lonsdale, Lancashire following its closure last month.

The 15th century property shut its doors on 24 July and current owner Andrew Wildsmith is looking to sell the site after nearly 20 years of trading to focus on his Michelin-starred Forest Side restaurant.

Hipping Hall's restaurant held three-AA-rosettes and the property features 15 bedrooms spread across the main house, cottage and recently completed stable rooms.

The kitchen was most recently led by Peter Howarth, who joined Hipping Hall in October 2021 from the Devonshire Arms' Hotel & Spa in Bolton Abbey.

Wildsmith, who purchased the hotel in 2005, said: "It has been an absolute pleasure bringing guests to this beautiful part of the world over the last two decades and providing them with first-class hospitality.

"Hipping Hall still holds so much potential, and I look forward to seeing what's next for this magnificent building."

Joel Osbourne, broker at Christie & Co who is handling the sale, said: "This is a fantastic opportunity for a new owner to acquire a unique property in an idyllic setting, with the potential to take the current business forward or introduce a new concept.

"There is also a parcel of land, available by separate negotiation, which offers scope for development, subject to the necessary planning permissions."
