Greggs has become the latest food brand to report disruption in its supply chain affecting its product availability – although it has denied that its chicken bakes have been affected.

A spokesperson said: "There are no current supply issues with our chicken bakes and our customers can continue to enjoy these as they usually would. Unfortunately, like others, we're seeing temporary interruptions in supply for some ingredients, which occasionally results in shops not being able to maintain full availability on all lines. However, we have a wide range of choices in our menu for customers happy to buy an alternative."

Bottled drinks and milkshakes are still off the menu across McDonald's restaurants in England, Scotland and Wales in the same month that KFC warned some menu items may not be available and Nando's was forced to close around 50 of its restaurants and lend 70 employees to short-staffed suppliers. All restaurants have since reopened.

Purchasing firms told The Caterershortages were expected to last for several months and that processed chicken and potato products were a particular issue.
