Gavin Gordon appointed head chef of the Hut on the Isle of Wight
Gavin Gordon has been appointed head chef of the Hut at Colwell Bay on the Isle of Wight.
He has over 10 years' experience working in professional kitchens, having trained at Jamie Oliver's Fifteen restaurant in London, and was head chef at Gordon Ramsay's the Narrow as well as Mac & Wild and Bonnie Gull in London. In 2018 he made it through to the quarter finals of BBC's MasterChef: The Professionals. He replaces former head chef Benjamin Chamberlain, who has left the business.
Gordon's new menu will combine classic dishes with twists including pork belly served with prawn sesame toast and pak choi garnished with carrot and ginger purée. Seaside specialities will include surf and turf or whole lobster and oysters, freshly caught daily by local fisherman.
The Hut was acquired in 2011 by brothers George and Matt Adams. It has since seen year-on-year growth of 75%, with an approximate annual turnover of £2m. It reopens on 11 March.
