Galgorm Collection pledges to be carbon neutral by 2030
The Galgorm Collection has shared its plans to achieve carbon-neutral status across its hotels and restaurants by 2030.
The hotel group in Northern Ireland consists of Galgorm with its Thermal Village & Spa, the Rabbit Hotel & Retreat in Templepatrick and the Old Inn, Crawfordsburn, as well as two Belfast city centre restaurants, Fratelli and Parisien.
Its 'Green policy 10-point plan' tackles waste management, water use, energy and transport. Some of the green initiatives include:
Installing solar and hydro power at Galgorm, harnessing the power of the River Maine, which flows through the 380-acre estate.
Introducing a fleet of zero-emission vehicles and increasing EV charging points for guests across all properties.
Planting 3,000 native trees at Galgorm to improve biodiversity and working with local partners to enhance green space and improve access to the estate with additional walkways and cycle networks.
"Carefully considered and consulted at every level, our sustainability pledge and plan of action will realise our goal to create an exciting, fully sustainable destination that works for the environment, our guests, our team and communities," said Tara Moore, head of spa operations and chairperson of the Sustainability Committee.
"We are open, transparent and ambitious in our plans and we are committed to continually reviewing and reporting on our progress and successes in the months and years ahead as part of our shared cleaner, greener future."
