Frank and Jackson Boxer to open dive bar in Stone Nest basement

Frank and Jackson Boxer, the brothers behind Brunswick House in London's Vauxhall, are to run a dive bar residency in the basement of West End arts organisation Stone Nest.

Opening tomorrow, Below Stone Nest will be the second joint launch for the brothers. Besides Brunswick House, Frank Boxer is also the founder of Frank's Cafe in Peckham and proprietor of the Camberwell Arms, while Jackson Boxer is chef-proprietor of Orasay in Notting Hill, which won the 2021 Menu of the Year Catey.

The bar will initially open from Wednesday to Saturday 6pm-2am for walk-ins only. The drinks list will consist of a low-intervention house white, house red, an orange wine, a rosé, a cava and a Champagne by the glass or bottle, as well as a rotating selection of white, red and fizz from the cellars of Brunswick House. There will also be a few cocktails, long drinks, beer and softs.

Frank Boxer said: "As the London I grew up in is increasingly demolished, defaced and vandalised in the name of development, the opportunity to create a beautiful old-fashioned dive bar in an extraordinary historic space in the heart of the West End is thrilling. My greatest ambition would be to establish some of the sense of joyous optimism and creative anarchy which typified the early days of Frank's Cafe, by keeping the prices low, the offering simple and unimpeachable, and the space welcoming to everyone."

Stone Nest's artistic director Inna Schorr added: "We are absolutely thrilled to be collaborating with Frank and Jackson on our basement bar. The passion, vision and expertise they bring to this residency, alongside Stone Nest's artistic programme, will create a vibrant social space and creative hub for artists, audiences and the wider public."
