Four hospitalised after Cameron House hotel fire

Four people have been taken to hospital following a fire at Cameron House hotel on Loch Lomondside in Scotland.

Fire broke out at the five-AA-star, 136-bedroom hotel at around 6.40 this morning.

Two adults and one child were taken to the Queen Elizabeth University hospital in Glasgow. A fourth patient was taken to the Royal Alexandra hospital in Paisley. No information on their condition was available.

Staff and guests have been evacuated as firefighters raised ladders to the upper floors of the building.

The owner of the nearby Duck Bay Hotel has offered to provide tea, coffee and refreshments to emergency services at the scene.

The Scottish Ambulance Service said: "We received a call at 0644 hours today to attend an incident at the Cameron House hotel.

"We dispatched four ambulances, our special operations response team and the trauma team to the scene.

"Three patients, two adults and one child, were taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.

"A fourth patient was taken to the Royal Alexandra Hospital."

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service has deployed 12 appliances while firefighters search the building.

Cameron House, which overlooks Loch Lomond, is now owned by American private equity firm KSL Capital Partners, having been acquired from the QHotels portfolio owned by Sankaty Advisors and Canyon Partners in November 2015. It boasts two golf courses, a spa and 184 timeshare lodges. It also has four restaurants, including the Michelin-starred Martin Wishart on Loch Lomond.

It announced in September last year that it would be undergoing a multi-million pound renovation.

No-one from Cameron House was available to comment.
