Chefs to compete to open restaurant at the Langham in new TV series

Chefs will compete for the chance to run their own restaurant at the Langham London hotel in an upcoming television series.

Five Star Kitchen: Britain's Next Great Chef will premiere on Channel 4 in the UK from 8 June and globally on Netflix outside the UK and Ireland later this year.

It will be judged by Michel Roux Jr, who oversees the Langham's restaurants, pastry chef and hospitality consultant Ravneet Gill, and restaurateur and chef Mike Reid.

Contestants will be put to the test across six episodes and challenged with handling banquets, late-night room service, an exclusive chef's table, and the Langham's busy lunch service, among other tasks.

The Langham's food and beverage outlets include the Palm Court restaurant, the Wigmore pub, and the Artesian bar. It has not been confirmed whether the competition winner will take over any of the existing restaurant spaces.

The competitors have yet to be announced, but Channel 4 said they would be drawn from "a wide range of professional backgrounds" and each have "a unique vision for their own restaurant".

Reid said: "As restaurant experts, Michel, Rav and I understand the dedication, skill, and creativity required to succeed in the competitive world of fine dining.

"We look forward to witnessing the passionate journeys of the chefs and, ultimately, awarding the winner with the keys to their gastronomic dream in one of the world's most vibrant culinary capitals."

Five Star Kitchen: Britain's Next Great Chef will air on Channel 4 at 8pm on 8 June.
