Emily Scott Watergate Bay residency to go permanent
Emily Scott's pop-up at the Watergate Bay hotel in Cornwall is to become permanent and the chef will take over the space that previously housed the Watchful Mary bar (pictured).
Scott previously ran a summer pop-up in the former Fifteen Cornwall building, which is set to be turned into suites next year.
The new restaurant will officially launch on 30 March 2021 and will have the same ‘less-is-more' ethos, using locally sourced ingredients, a stripped-back and simple seafood- and plant-based menu, seaweed on the walls and flowers on the tables.
A post on Watergate Bay's Instagram added: "There are new things for the Watchful brand on the horizon, too."
"The pop-up experience was one of the highlights of my career," said Scott. "We were fully booked two to three weeks in advance all summer, and I got to do everything I love – bringing people together and making them happy with food and wine. But it was especially lovely because, with everyone's lives so disrupted by the pandemic, people were really happy to be out together again."
Chef Scott also holds the lease for the St Tudy Inn restaurant with rooms in Bodmin, Cornwall. After running the site for five years, she announced earlier this year that it was on the market. She will continue to operate the venue until a buyer is found.
