Cotswolds hotel Dormy House appoints Stephen Browning as general manager
Luxury Cotswolds hotel Dormy House has appointed Stephen Browning as its new general manager following the departure of Pim Wolfs.
Browning joins the four-red-AA-starred 38-bedroom Dormy House, which is set in 400 acres of private grounds of the Farncombe Estate in Broadway, , Worcestershire. The converted 17th century farmhouse has received a multi-million-pound contemporary redesign described as Cotswold chic.
Browning has moved from the Bath Spa hotel, part of the Macdonald Hotels group.
He has a 17-year pedigree as a general manager in the hospitality industry. He previously worked as general manager for the Manor House in Wiltshire for nine years and spent eight years with Hand Picked Hotels across New Hall hotel and spa in Sutton Coldfield, Crathorne Hall hotel in North Yorkshire and Wood Hall hotel and spa in Wetherby.
The general manager said: "I have followed the Farncombe Estate over the last few years and I am thrilled to have been offered this new role and appointed to manage such an iconic hotel.
"Dormy House has an enviable track record and I am really looking forward to working closely with the team and collectively taking the hotel forwards with some new ideas and initiatives."
Andrew Grahame, CEO of the Farncombe Estate, added: "We are delighted to have Stephen on board. His appointment comes at a significant time for the estate and in particular for Dormy House.
"Whilst 2019 has seen Farncombe reach record revenue targets driven by high occupancy levels we want to place more of a focus on the guest experience to ensure continued success in 2020 and beyond. To achieve this the right leader is vital and I am convinced that Stephen's experience and charisma makes him the ideal person to lead the team at Dormy House."
The hotel's the Back Garden restaurant sources local ingredients, including those grown in its own garden, and high-welfare rare-breed meats. The MO restaurant features a eight-course tasting menu.
The new appointment follows the news that Dormy House's head chef Sam Bowser is to join four-red-AA-starred Llangoed Hall in Llyswen, Powys. Bowser's replacement will be announced soon.
