Diageo announce new sustainability and society roles
Drinks producer Diageo has announced the appointment of David Cutter to the new position of chief sustainability officer (CSO) and president of global supply and procurement.
Cutter, who sits on Diageo's execute committee, has been at Diageo for more than 15 years working across the global supply network.
Cutter said: "Across our diverse supply chain I see first-hand the positive impact our operations can have on the communities around them. Whether it is ensuring our sites have leading energy efficient technology, reducing fuel and water consumption or supporting our vast global family of farmers providing grains to our breweries and distilleries, this is a huge and significant role."
He added: "I fervently believe in the significant contribution we can make and our commitment to do so."
In addition, Kate Gibson, vice-president, global corporate citizenship from InterContinental Hotels Group, has been appointed to the newly created role of director of Diageo in society. Gibson will start the new role in March 2019 to ensure Diageo play a positive role in all the communities it operates in.
The creation of the two new roles reflects Diageo's targets in its work in society and environment. The drinks producer plans to focus on water stewardship and replenishment of water in stressed areas and the sourcing of local raw materials and remains a leading business in promoting responsible alcohol consumption.
