Deliveroo to open high street training restaurant
Deliveroo is to open a high street restaurant which it said will be used to help staff better understand its restaurant partners.
As first reported by Propel, the delivery firm is understood to have taken a site near Swiss Cottage tube station in north west London for a launch early this year.
Staff will learn how to manage a restaurant offering both dine-in and delivery services to experience the challenges it brings and help develop new ideas.
It is understood there are no plans to scale the project beyond the single site.
A Deliveroo spokesperson said: "Deliveroo will manage a high street restaurant to deepen staff expertise and understanding of restaurant management so we can find new and better ways to serve our partners.
"Staff will learn about how to manage restaurant dine in and delivery services. We want to understand restaurants' pain points with the aim of solving them, and to do this by having a deep understanding of restaurant owners' mindset.
"Deliveroo was born from a love of restaurants and we are always looking for new ways to support them and to help them grow their businesses."
Over the past few years Deliveroo has worked with its restaurant partners to develop virtual brands out of its Editions ‘dark kitchens'.
The company, which made its stock market debut in 2021, has seen a boom in orders during the pandemic and upgraded its full-year growth forecast by 10% in October following a sharp rise in the value of its orders across its entire international business.
