David Taylor promoted to CEO of Lore Group

David Taylor has been promoted to chief executive of Lore Group as the company prepares to relaunch the Ace hotel as One Hundred Shoreditch next month, the company's sixth hotel and second in London.

Taylor joined the company in 2020 as chief operating officer, steering its global portfolio of properties through the pandemic, including Sea Containers London.

Taylor said: "After a very difficult time for our industry, I am pleased to lead the next phase of development for Lore Group. With five unique hotels, a sixth due imminently, we are in a strong position for the future. I am looking forward to the launch of One Hundred Shoreditch, having opened the original Hoxton hotel in Shoreditch in 2006."

He was general manager of the original Hoxton hotel in Shoreditch when it was owned by Sinclair Beecham, before going on to play an instrumental role in the creation of the London Edition for Marriott International and the Principal brand.

After the 13-strong Principal brand was sold by Starwood Capital to French investor Covivio and IHG Hotels & Resorts in a £858m deal in May 2018, Taylor was tasked as vice president of UK operations with overseeing the integration of the properties into IHG and their reflagging under various brands including Kimpton, InterContinental and Voco. He was named Manager of the Year at the 2015 Cateys and Hotelier of the Year in 2018.

The previous chief executive of Lore Group was Billy Skelli-Cohen, who has since gone on to found hospitality brand Àterre.
