Cycas Hospitality to open Residence Inn by Marriott in Manchester
Aparthotel company Cycas Hospitality has signed a new management agreement to open Marriott International's first extended-stay property in the north of England.
The deal to operate a 155-room Residence Inn by Marriott in Manchester's Northern Quarter is Cycas's first with real estate investor Ciel Capital.
The property, which currently provides 84 independent serviced apartments as the Northern Quarters, will undergo a phased refurbishment schedule before opening as a Residence Inn in late 2020.
Asli Kutlucan, chief development officer at Cycas Hospitality, said that continued investment into Manchester's rail and international air connections signal huge potential for growth in the coming years.
"We're confident that the central location of our new Residence Inn property will tap into the growing demand for alternative accommodation options from business and leisure travellers," she continued.
Vedrana Riley, chief executive officer of Ciel Capital, said that Manchester's reputation as a digital technology hub and the government's Northern Powerhouse initiative have transformed the region into an exciting urban economy.
She added: "As the city continues to attract a high-profile mix of start-up businesses and large-scale multinationals, from Boohoo to Amazon, our first hotel in Manchester will be well positioned to cater to the city's evolving hotel needs."
Cycas Hospitality's experience of the North West market extends back to 2008 when it worked with IHG to bring Europe's first extended stay hotel property to Liverpool.
Last year it opened Staybridge Suites Manchester – Oxford Road, the north of England's first dual-branded property that brought together IHG's Crowne Plaza and Staybridge Suites brands. However, yesterday it was announced that Hyatt will take over the two hotels next year.
This summer Quest appointed Cycas to launch its apartment hotels into Europe, with its first property expected to open in Liverpool city centre this month (September), while Cycas will also bring Marriott International's lifestyle-focused Moxy brand to Liverpool in 2021.
