Claridge's unveils art deco Christmas tree for 2020
Claridge's has revealed its iconic Christmas tree for 2020, choosing a 1920s art deco theme to evoke the hope and happiness following the first world war.
Kally Ellis, founder of British floral designers McQueens Flowers, created this year's tree taking inspiration from the art deco architecture of the hotel.
The tree features a white frosted design, with each branch decorated with over 10,000 crystals, as well as glass garlands and pendants, reflecting light across the distinctive black and white marbled lobby. Standing at 4.5 metres tall it sits on a mirrored pool, playing into the theme of a frozen wonderland.
Claridge's co-owner Paddy McKillen said: "Christmas is always a particularly special time for us here at Claridge's, and we can't wait to welcome back our much-missed guests and their families. We believe that this year's tree captures the right balance of Claridge's magical heritage and positive hope for all of us for the year ahead."
The exterior of Claridge's also nods to its art deco past with designer Basil Ionides' leaping deer installed along the hotel canopy.
