Chef James Ferguson reopens Kinneuchar Inn in Fife
Chef James Ferguson and partner Alethea Palmer have opened the Kinneuchar Inn in Fife.
Owned by the nearby Balcaskie Estate, the pub in the East Neuk village of Kilconquhar has been closed for two years for an extensive refurbishment.
Featuring open fires and furniture made from local wood, it has retained the traditional pub area alongside a separate 32-cover dining area and private events space.
Ferguson's menu will focus on both farmed and wild ingredients sourced from the Estate and other local producers, while a purpose built space will allow him and his team to source whole carcasses for butchery on site.
Before making the move to Scotland, Ferguson carved out a career in London. Previous experience includes working with Angela Hartnett at the Connaught, heading the kitchen at Rochelle Canteen with Margot Henderson, and launching Darren and Kieran Clancy's Hoxton restaurant Beagle, which closed in January 2018.
Palmer will manage front of house at the Kinneuchar Inn, having previously spent eight years as general manager at London restaurant and catering company Arnold & Henderson. She oversaw the running of Rochelle Canteen in Arnold Circus and has also designed and executed events across the world.
