Carlsberg closes London Fields Brewery with plans to sell
Carlsberg Marston's Brewing Company has closed London Fields Brewery with the intention of selling the business just four years after buying it.
A statement posted on the London Fields Brewery website said: "It is with regret that we have taken a difficult decision and propose to close London Fields Brewery with a view to selling the business and finding new owners.
"We will close our taproom and e-commerce platforms and pause onsite brewing immediately… As you can imagine, this is a difficult time for the team and we are focusing on looking after each other, as well as our customers, partners and friends in the community."
It also said it was "hopeful" the brewery would reopen "in the near future if a sale is agreed".
Carlsberg UK bought London Fields Brewery in 2017 and operated the business in a joint venture with Brooklyn Brewery. At the time, the group said investment would be made to re-introduce brewing at its original home under the Hackney railway arches and to upgrade its taproom and events space.
London Fields Brewery was founded in Hackney in 2011.
