Brothers Pub Co lands first site for social pub concept in Northampton

Brothers Pub Co has announced the former Sharps site in Northampton's Abington Street will be its first ‘social pub concept' with hopes to open before the end of the year.

Brothers Josh, Jack and Ellis Fitzgerald (pictured) have secured £250,000 in investment towards the 100-cover venue, which is being transformed by ABDA Design. Set across two storeys, it will have two shuffleboards on the ground floor as well as 14 alfresco covers, with a cocktail masterclass area on the second floor and a menu of cocktails and British tapas.

"We're over the moon… it means we can build what we want to build without cutting any corners," said Josh Fitzgerald, who described the site as having "huge potential".

The founders have said staff will not work more than 48-hour weeks and will be paid a minimum of £10 an hour.

He added: "We've all worked in hospitality venues, pubs and bars, in our time and it's always a case of being overworked and underpaid. People get burnt out really quick and it's known for being a tough industry to work in. We want to start making a change with that and make it better for people."

The group plans to grow to multiple towns across the country which, like Brothers Pub Co – Abingdon Street, will be named after the streets on which they are located.
