Boscundle Manor sold for nearly £1.3m
The Grade II-listed Boscundle Manor country house hotel in Cornwall has been sold off a guide price of nearly £1.3m.
Sharon and David Parker put the 13-bedroom, three-AA-silver-star property in Saint Austell up for sale three years ago in order to pursue other interests.
The 18th-century hotel has subsequently been sold to husband and wife Jason Jones and Louise Uys-Jones, whose hospitality experience includes financial controller of Cheval Residences and resort director at St Michaels Resort in Falmouth.
Ed Jefferson of the hotels team at Colliers International said: "Boscundle Manor was originally built as a manor house and has been a hotel for more than 30 years.
"We are delighted to have completed this sale, which brings about a new chapter for this historic property and illustrates how buyers are looking beyond present challenging global circumstances to opportunities in the longer term.
"Although the sale process was put into the hands of a fixed charge receiver early in 2019, this situation was subsequently reversed, allowing the sale to proceed in the hands of our vendor clients as a transfer of a going concern."
The manor was originally constructed to be the home of the captain of the Wheal Eliza Consoles, a large tin mine in Cornwall. it is set in 1.7 acres of landscaped grounds and features an indoor swimming pool, bar and lounge areas and a two-AA-rosette restaurant.
Jason added: "This has been a long-held desire for Louise and I, and it's a chance to add our experience and passion into a small boutique hotel that has real character. We will evolve the property over the coming year to make what we hope is a place we would like to stay in, with a focus on guest comfort with a small hotel feel and service standards to match."
