Black Book to hold online event series to celebrate Black History Month
Representation platform Black Book is celebrating Black History Month in the UK with a series of online events throughout October.
Every Tuesday there will be a full day of workshops, masterclasses, cook-a-longs and discussions that explore the four pillars of Black Book: equality, visibility, wealth creation and equity.
Following its eight-week online series on decolonising the food industry, which saw a global panel of thought leaders and activists explore the work required to change the systemic inequalities and erasure of Black and non-white voices in hospitality and food, Black Book's second series of events will harness leading voices and talent and showcase the future of Black histories in food.
The first week, starting Tuesday 6 October, will focus on equality and see drinks writer Aleesha Hansel lead a workshop on working in the wine industry; a masterclass with Ariatu PR founder Ronke Lawal on the world of PR; a cook-a-long with Joe Faulkner of the Krio Kanteen on how to cook classic Salone dishes; and a discussion between food writers Melissa Thompson (pictured) and Zoe Adjonyoh.
Tickets are available here, either individually for each event or a bundle ticket for the full day of events.
