Bishopstrow Hotel & Spa brought to market for £5.5m
The four-silver-AA-starred Bishopstrow Hotel & Spa near Warminster in Wiltshire has been put up for sale seeking offers of at least £5.5m.
The 19th-century, 32-bedroom country house hotel has 27 acres of gardens and grounds, a spa featuring indoor and outdoor heated swimming pools, a library, banqueting and meeting rooms and a two-AA-rosette restaurant.
Former Chewton Glen general manager and 2011 Acorn Award winner Mark Bevan joined the property in 2018 shortly after it was sold to current owner Versant Developers to oversee a five-to-six-year renovation with plans to add 10-15 bedrooms.
Bishopstrow was bought by commercial and residential property developer Frank Mountain of Versant Developers for an undisclosed sum from Longleat Enterprises, operator of the Wiltshire safari and adventure park. Longleat bought the hotel in 2011 following the administration of former owner Von Essen off a guide price of £6m.
Matthew Smith, partner in the hotels team at Knight Frank, which has been appointed to sell the property, said: "We are delighted to bring the Bishopstrow Hotel & Spa to the market. This prestigious Wiltshire property will appeal to investors keen to capitalise on the increase in the staycation market and we expect to generate interest from both domestic and overseas investors due to its excellent amenities and rural location. There are also a number of exciting future upside opportunities for a purchaser to explore."
