Bike & Boot hotel to open in July
The first Bike & Boot hotel in Scarborough is ready to open in July, government guidance allowing.
Infiniti Roofing & Construction, part of the Infiniti Group, has overhauled the former 50-bedroom Mount hotel into a 65-bedroom property with interiors by Rachel McLane. The final touches will be finished by the middle of June.
The company pre-empted the lockdown by buying the majority of the materials needed to finish the work and kept specific contractors separate, with each team working sequentially on separate floors as the job progressed from the ground floor up.
The hotel will feature a 100-cover bar and grill restaurant, walking and surfing drying rooms, secure bicycle storage, dog-washing provisions, a retreat lounge with complimentary hot drinks, and an in-house cinema.
Co-owner Simon Kershaw said: "Infiniti have successfully worked through the Covid-19 situation; that has been a real bonus as they have ensured the safety of all contractors, with social distancing measures and safe working practices."
Marcus Rowe, director of Infiniti Roofing & Construction, said: "While it goes without saying that this has been a very difficult time for the whole country, seeing this project through to completion has given us a massive sense of achievement and satisfaction."
Kershaw and co-owner Simon Rhatigan acquired the property in January 2019 for an undisclosed sum off an asking price of £2m, which they said would be the first of a small group of boutique hotels.
The concept is described as "a modern leisure escape" with "funky interiors" at an affordable price, aimed at the short break market with facilities for cyclists, walkers and dog owners. Further expansion is planned in areas such as the north-east coast and in the Yorkshire Dales, Peak District or Lake District.
