Bierschenke to open Covent Garden beer hall
German beer hall brand Bierschenke is to open a 12,000 sq ft site in London's Covent Garden this spring.
The group has taken on the former Belgo Central site, which features vaulted brick ceilings and flagstone floors.
Bierschenke is aiming to open the site in spring and will serve its menu of German beers, sausages, Schweinshaxe and Schnitzel.
Staff will wear traditional leather Lederhosen and the venue will run events around Octoberfest accompanied by Oom-pah bands.
It will be the second London site for Bierschenke, which launched on the Strand in 2010 before relocating behind London Liverpool Street station after it outgrew the premises.
A Bierschenke beer hall opened in Tower Hill in 2019 but closed during the pandemic.
"This is one of London's iconic locations and ideal fit for our highly-rated and authentic Munich Bierkeller experience in London," said the Bierschenke team.
"We cannot wait for the grand opening followed by our traditional Octoberfest in the Autumn."
The Covent Garden beer hall will open opposite the £73m Guinness microbrewery and cultural hub, which is due to launch this autumn.
Licensed trade property agent Andrew Robinson of A3 A4 Licensed Property acquired the site for Bierschenke and Alex Mann of Hanover Green Retail represented the landlords CBRE IM.
