James Tagg joins ASM Global from Manchester United
Venue and event management company ASM Global has announced the appointment of James Tagg in a newly created role as culinary director.
The appointment comes as ASM seeks to broaden the company's footprint in the UK; earlier this spring, it announced a new partnership with London Stadium, which it said will create additional event content to the venue's calendar.
Scottish chef Tagg has worked in hotels in the UK, South Africa, and Australia, and also has built up extensive experience in stadium hospitality.
He has worked in stadiums including Murrayfield and Hampden before taking on the role of executive chef at Manchester United 12 years ago. In 2021, he was named Chef of the Year at the Foodservice Catey Awards.
Tagg, who begins his role this month, said: "The opportunity to be the culinary leader across so many iconic venues, with a clear, ambitious and passionate sector-leading food philosophy was irresistible.
"ASM Global, including the wider catering family of Creative, Genuine and Curious, will provide me with an environment to thrive and I am looking forward with excitement to being part of a fabulous team that takes food to the next level at every venue, every day."
To support Tagg and the wider food and beverage teams Mark Chan has been appointed as head of procurement. Chan joins from the tech company Rocketeer where he has overseen and led on commercial growth across the globe.
Previously working with Tagg at Old Trafford in food and beverage procurement and commercial direction, Chan said ASM is experiencing a "golden moment" in its expansion and he is looking forward to "supporting the delivery of best in class, memorable live events."
Chris Bray, president of ASM Global said: "As the team evolves further, these roles have been designed to support ASM's continued goal to elevate and enhance the guest experience. Investment in people is of huge importance to us, and we're proud to be hiring highly skilled and hugely experienced industry leaders."
ASM Global operates UK venues including concert venue OVO Hydro in Glasgow, conference and events space Sage Arerna in Gateshead, and Olympia London.
