Anton Piotrowski leaves Brown and Bean after just two months
Chef Anton Piotrowski has left the Plymouth restaurant Brown and Bean after just two months, following an apparent split with his former business partners.
Piotrowski, who won MasterChef: The Professionals in 2012, left the Michelin-starred Treby Arms in Sparkwell near Plympton in Devon earlier this year after six years.
He opened Brown and Bean with friends Paul Brown and Ben McBean in March this year, although he continues to hold a stake in Treby Taverns, which also owns the Springer Spaniel in Treburley, Launceston, Cornwall, along with fellow shareholders Desmond Whitehouse, Mark Downton and Graham Milford.
But over the weekend, Piotrowski took to Twitter to announce that he was leaving the new venture.
Commenting on the appointments, and on Piotrowski's departure, Brown, business partner of Afghan war hero McBean, told The Plymouth Herald: "We have certainly enjoyed having Anton's input into our business however, from the outset, our true intention with Brown and Bean was always for it to be an establishment to give dynamic, talented young chefs their own opportunity to shine.
"Ben particularly feels strongly about this concept due to his own past experiences and having been given a second chance at life that, at one stage, never seemed likely.
"Jimmy and Joe have spent the last five years working in a Michelin-starred restaurant and have been the strong driving force behind Brown and Bean since our opening.
"They have been responsible for the design and creation of many of our dishes on both the a la carte and taster menus and the rave reviews received are confirmation of their talent.
"At Brown and Bean we want reliable, dedicated and enthusiastic head chefs who can always be relied upon. We have certainly found this in the Cotton brothers.
"They are a pleasure to work with and their easy-going and fun characters have also contributed to the overall relaxed and happy vibe that both staff and customers experience at Brown and Bean.
"We would really like to make it clear that for all those who have been and loved their Brown and Bean experience so far and for all of our fantastic reviews, about 80% of this has been due to the hard work and dedication of Jimmy and Joe.
"We are so excited for the future of the restaurant and know that with them at the helm there are great things to come."
Piotrowski has not yet revealed what he plans to do for his next venture.
