Annie's owner to open Chiswick cocktail bar

Little Bird, a new cocktail bar from Annie's restaurant owner Lorraine Angliss (pictured), is to open in Chiswick in London on 21 June.

The food offering will be helmed by head chef Michelle Lepherd, who has worked as a senior sous chef at the Michelin-starred St John restaurant under Fergus Henderson and as a chef de partie at the River Café. She has also worked in kitchens in San Francisco, Australia, France and London.

The site, opening on Burlington Lane, is described as a "friendly, neighbourhood space", with Kew Gardens-inspired "relaxed glamour" décor and a conservatory and outdoor terrace.

It will be the fourth west London opening for Angliss, who also operates Richmond-upon-Thames restaurant Rock & Rose and the Annie's restaurants in Chiswick and Barnes.

The menu will feature Asian and European-inspired dishes with locally sourced ingredients. It will have small plates designed to pair with the selection of cocktails, including salmon sashimi, wasabi with soy, warm rare beef with horseradish cream, prawn gyoza and pork belly.

Rock & Rose mixologist Adam Bozsoki will be in charge of the cocktail menu and will be using fresh fruits, flowers and herbs.

Angliss first began working in hospitality more than 30 years ago, having helped former Rolling Stones bassist Bill Wyman open his Sticky Fingers burger restaurant group, named after the Stones' album of the same name, in 1989.

She said: "I have designed the interiors and worked very hard to create a beautiful, eclectic, comfortable and interestingly different new place for the people of Chiswick to enjoy. I have pulled out all the stops for Little Bird and tried to do something individual but still maintaining the common thread of my other restaurants Annie's and Rock & Rose. This is another sister to the family, if you like."
