Angela Hartnett looking to expand Murano
Michelin-starred chef Angela Hartnett is expected to open a new London restaurant.
Restaurant property agency Dean Gambles & Co said it was currently seeking premises for Hartnett in the London South Bank area.
In 2015, Hartnett confirmed during The Caterer's An Audience With… that she would like to run five to eight sites of Café Murano, the sister group to the chef's restaurant Murano in Mayfair, London. There are currently two Café Murano locations, a 75-cover restaurant on St James Street and a 126-cover operation on Tavistock Street in Covent Garden.
Speaking to The Caterer editor Amanda Afiya during the 2015 interview, Hartnett said: "The idea for Café Murano was to roll out a concept that maintained the same quality, but that we could sell and make money from. I wanted somewhere you could come to have the old classics. We even had a lasagne for two people that sold like the clappers. It's about not trying to be too clever.
Hartnett, who is known for Italian cuisine, opened Murano in 2008. She started her career at Gordon Ramsay's Aubergine in Chelsea, London, before becoming head chef for Marcus Wareing at Pétrus in St James's, London.
Continuing her career with Ramsay for Gordon Ramsay Holdings (now Gordon Ramsay Group), in 2001, Hartnett travelled to Dubai to open restaurant Verre located within the Hilton Dubai Creek, and to Boca Raton, Florida, to set up Cielo in 2006.
For five years, Hartnett had her name above the door at t Angela Hartnett at The Connaught in London, where she held her first Michelin star.
She also runs the Hartnett Holder & Co restaurant situated within at Robin Hutson's Lime Wood hotel in Lyndhurst, Hampshire.
A spokesperson representing Angela Hartnett declined to comment.
