Ampersand to open café at British Golf Museum
Ampersand is set to unveil a new café at the British Golf Museum in St Andrews in time for the 144th Open Championship in July.
With 78 indoor covers and a further 60 outside on the adjoining terrace, Ampersand's menu celebrates Scottish cuisine and takes its inspiration from ingredients produced throughout the region.
The Café at the Museum will offer panoramic views, taking in the first tee of the Old Course, which is recognised as the home of golf, and West Sands beach.
The menu will feature contemporary classics such as ham hock and leek pie, ‘haggis neeps & tatties', and Arbroath smoky fishcakes as well as offering afternoon tea using produce from local suppliers including the St Andrews Brewing Company, Fisher & Donaldson bakery and Anster St Andrews cheddar.
Sitting alongside the Royal and Ancient (R&A) Clubhouse, the re-modelled British Golf Museum - including the new café - was designed by award-winning architect, Richard Murphy.
Ampersand managing director Paul Jackson said: "This is the moment we have waited for. The Open is the most prestigious event in golf and the R&A is the home of the sport, so to be opening the Café at the Museum and serving diners who visit us is a privilege."
Angela Howe, director of the British Golf Museum, added: "The Café at the Museum perfectly reflects our vision for the future of the museum and the menu is wonderful. We are particularly proud of all the Scottish produce we have been able to include."
Ampersand is owned by CH&Co Group and offers catering services to a range of British establishments including Hampton Court Palace and ZSL London Zoo.
