Amalfi White Italian restaurant to open in Melbourne, Derbyshire
Independent restaurateurs Adam and Lizzy Devey Smith are set to open a new Italian bar and restaurant in the Derbyshire village of Melbourne in November.
The 90-cover Amalfi White will include Prosecco and cocktail bars on both the ground and first floor, an 80-seater ballroom and lounge, the White Bar for private dining and drinks, and a garden with two patios.
"We are transforming this historic building into an elegant venue ideal for those special occasions. We are planning private dining events, celebrations, Christmas menus and parties, being delivered by a top quality team with experience working with Gordon Ramsay, Raymond Blanc, and Carluccios," said Lizzy Devey Smith, managing director.
Main courses at the restaurant, which is due to open on 22 November, are expected to cost between £18 and £30.
The restaurant will feature charcoal leather seating around the perimeter of the bar with casual sofas and low tables in the centre. A pewter-topped Prosecco Bar will run the length of the building serving a list of cocktails and more than 40 types of wine, all by the glass or a taster menu. The restaurant will also feature a vacuum re-corking system.
At the rear of the restaurant is an open wood fired pizza oven, and a conservatory with views through to the open main kitchen.
Dishes include arancini di anatra - crispy duck filled risotto balls with a chianti and plum jam; as well as the roasted fig zabaglione - a soft fig compote topped with vinsanto custard and served with amaretti biscuit.
Lizzy Devey Smith said: "We will be open every day from 8.30am for coffee and breakfast right through to just past midnight. Brunch and lunch will be relaxed and very Italian."
