AM Services Group enters contract catering market with launch of AM Food
Northern-based AM Services Group has expanded into the workplace catering market with the launch of its new brand AM Food.
The company said that it "aims to disrupt the UK contract catering market" and had already landed its first catering contract for around 600 people at the Deeside engine plant of a leading Japanese multinational automotive manufacturer.
AM Services Group's operations director Neil Cooper, who previously worked as operations director – EMEA at Mitie's Gather & Gather and led the creation of AM Food, said: "We want to disrupt contract catering as we know it and to bring a successful, modern, desirable high street quality food offer to people in their workplace. We are ideally placed to work with businesses that put people and their wellbeing at the heart of workplace food…
"We want to take UK contract catering and turn in on its head. For far too long and far too often we have seen avoidable food waste, long queues and limited service, reduced choice for out-of-hours staff, poor portion control, high costs and lack of nutritional information. We are working with our clients to rid the market of these problems and we will continue to look at new ways of doing things better, because people should have a choice. The offer must be flexible, agile, creative and responsive because what worked yesterday may not continue to work tomorrow."
Chef Michael Wilkinson has been involved with developing the AM Food offer. A MasterChef: The Professionals semi-finalist, his previous experience includes head chef of the Whippet Inn and Andrew Pern's the Star Inn the City in York, as well as development chef at Gather & Gather.
Since 2003 AM Services Group has grown its cleaning business to security, concierge and logistics services for sectors including manufacturing, industry, retail, distribution, education, utilities and infrastructure, corporate, property management and leisure.
