Albert and Michel Roux Jnr open Roux at the Landau
Acclaimed chefs Albert and Michel Roux Jnr have opened their first collaborative venture in nearly 20 years, with the launch of a new restaurant in London's West End.
The father and son duo have taken over the Landau restaurant at the Langham Hotel and have relaunched it as Roux at the Landau.
The move, which was first revealed on Caterer‘s social networking site Table Talk in August, marks the first time the pair has worked together since Albert handed over the reigns at Le Gavroche to Michel Jnr back in 1991.
Chris King, who was previously sous chef at Roux at Parliament Square and has spent five years at Le Gavroche, has been appointed as chef de cuisine at Roux at the Landau. He will serve a modern interpretation of classic French cooking, with some British dishes also featuring on his menu.
Michel Roux Jnr commented: "Chris King is a rising star, and his menus reflect the Roux trademark style of classically-constructed French dishes, blended with today's tastes for lighter choices. He has a modern approach to combining ingredients, and a contemporary style of presentation."
Front of house will continue to be headed up by the Landau's existing restaurant manager Franco Becci, who joined the restaurant when it first opened under head chef Andrew Turner in 2007.
