Absurd Bird enters administration with closure of five restaurants

The Absurd Bird restaurant group has entered administration with the closure of its five restaurants.

A post on the fried chicken chain's Instagram account said its sites were closed due to "unforeseen circumstances" but customers could still order from its virtual restaurants on UberEats and JustEat.

Absurd Bird launched in London's Spitalfields in 2016 and expanded to two sites in the capital and one each in Exeter, Leeds, and Glasgow.

Administrators from FRP Advisory were appointed to the business on 1 July, according to a notice on the Gazette public record.

A post on Absurd Bird's TikTok account said: "With a heavy heart we have officially closed our doors. I would like to apologise to anyone with a booking that we can no longer fulfil this decision was unfortunately outwith our control. Thank you to everyone who has joined us over the last four years for humongous chicken burgers and yummy cocktails, we have loved every minute.

"To my fabulous team…I will miss every single one of you and will be forever grateful for the memories, whatever life brings you next I know each and every one of you will smash it."

The Caterer has contacted FRP Advisory for further comment.
