27th National Restaurateurs' Dinner raises £80,000
The 27th National Restaurateurs' Dinner (NRD) has helped raise £80,000 for hospitality training.
The annual event, held on Tuesday at London's Dorchester hotel, brings together the Academy of Food & Wine Service, the Royal Academy of Culinary Arts and the Restaurant Association, and seeks to celebrate the industry's successes.
This year's event has so far helped raise over £80,000, via the auction, table sales and raffle tickets. This marked a considerable increase on last year's dinner, which raised £45,000.
Funds raised go to support national training programmes for front and back of house staff.
These have included the Royal Academy of Culinary Arts' Annual Awards of Excellence, Apprenticeships and the Master of Culinary Arts; the Academy and Food of Wine Service (AFWS) UK Sommelier of the Year and UK Restaurant Manager of the Year; the British Hospitality Association (BHA) Young Chef Young Waiter; and the Big Hospitality Conversation.
The Academy of Food and Wine Service, this year's chair of the event, thanked the NRD patrons and sponsors for their ongoing support.
